Cattle Veterinarian in Morristown, Tennessee

Healthy cattle are the foundation of a successful operation.

Practical support for working herds

We provide practical veterinary support focused on herd health, disease prevention, reproduction management, and treatment strategies that help keep your cattle productive and healthy. We come to you: ambulatory large- and farm-animal service means we work cattle where the work happens.

Dr. Harris grew up on a family farm in Russellville and manages beef cattle farms of his own in Mohawk and Russellville, so he sees herd health from the producer's side as well as the veterinarian's. Both of our veterinarians, Dr. Jacob Harris and Dr. Matthew Harlan, practice mixed animal medicine.

A herd health plan that fits your operation

The best herd health plans are built around your calendar: breeding, calving, weaning, and winter feeding. We can help you plan vaccinations and parasite control for each stage, assess body condition and nutrition, and decide what treatment makes sense for the animal and the operation.

Fall: weaning, pregnancy checks, and forage hazards

Fall is a busy season for cattle. Weaning stress raises the risk of respiratory disease, so preconditioning vaccinations and low-stress handling pay off. Weaning is also a practical time to check cows for pregnancy and assess body condition before winter feed is committed. Frost can make some forages dangerous, and cold weather brings fescue foot and lice. Our fall health checklist walks through each one.

Frequently asked questions

Do you make farm calls for cattle?

Yes. We offer ambulatory large- and farm-animal services, plus emergency services after-hours and on weekends.

What is a herd health program?

A herd health program is a written plan for vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition, and reproduction that fits your operation and calendar. We can help you build one and adjust it each year.

When should calves be vaccinated before weaning?

Preconditioning vaccines are commonly given several weeks before weaning so calves are protected when stress peaks. The best timing depends on the products and your plan, so talk with us before weaning day.

When should I preg-check my cows?

Many producers check cows at weaning time so open or thin cows are identified before winter feed is committed. We can help you choose the timing that fits your breeding season.
