Dog Veterinarian in Morristown, Tennessee
Whether they're hunting partners, working dogs, or couch companions, dogs deserve dependable veterinary care throughout their lives.
Veterinary care for dogs at every life stage
From routine wellness visits and vaccinations to surgery and medical treatment, we are committed to helping your best friend stay healthy, active, and by your side for years to come. We see puppies, adults, and seniors, and we tailor care to the dog in front of us. A Labrador that hunts every weekend needs a different plan than a senior lap dog.
Both of our veterinarians, Dr. Jacob Harris and Dr. Matthew Harlan, practice mixed animal medicine.

What a good wellness exam covers
A wellness exam is a head-to-tail check: weight and body condition, eyes, ears, heart and lungs, skin and coat, teeth and gums, joints, and gait. It is also the time to review vaccines, parasite prevention, diet, and anything you have noticed at home. Small changes in appetite, thirst, energy, or bathroom habits are often the earliest sign of a problem, so bring your questions.
Puppies, seniors, and working dogs
Puppies
Puppies typically begin their vaccine series at 6 to 8 weeks of age, with boosters every few weeks until about 16 weeks. This is also the time to talk about parasite prevention, spay and neuter timing, and early training and socialization.
Senior dogs
Older dogs often benefit from exams every six months. Arthritis, dental disease, and changes in weight or thirst are common and manageable when caught early.
Hunting and working dogs
Dogs that spend time in the field face more tick exposure, contaminated water, and physical injury. Ask us about tick prevention, the leptospirosis vaccine, and a post-season check-up. Our fall health checklist covers the hazards we see most as the seasons change.
Frequently asked questions
How often should my dog have a check-up?
Healthy adult dogs generally do well with a wellness exam once a year. Puppies need a series of visits in their first months, and senior dogs or dogs with chronic conditions often benefit from exams every six months. We will recommend a schedule that fits your dog.
When should my puppy start vaccines?
Puppies typically start their vaccine series at about 6 to 8 weeks of age, with boosters every few weeks until around 16 weeks. Tennessee law also requires rabies vaccination for dogs. Your veterinarian will set the exact schedule.
Do hunting and working dogs need different care?
Often, yes. Field dogs face more tick exposure, contaminated water, and injuries. Ask us about tick prevention, the leptospirosis vaccine, and a check-up after the season.
Do you offer dental care for dogs?
Yes. We offer dental cleanings, extractions, and oral surgery.
